Service is at the heart of recovery—and every act of service makes our fellowship stronger. Help out once, serve regularly, share a particular skill, or take on a leadership role. No matter your capacity, there is a place for you at Mokena Fellowship Center.
You don't need to know exactly how to serve. Tell us about your interests, availability, or skills, and we will do our best to make an introduction.
Service helps the fellowship while also helping you maintain:
| A desire to stop drinking.
| The willingness to help another alcoholic get and stay sober.
Meetings depend on members who are willing to show up and serve. Opportunities range from making coffee and welcoming attendees to chairing a meeting and helping open or close the building.
Chat with the group's Chair or attend its next Business Meeting to identify available opportunities.
Members of the fellowship and outside AA groups are invited to chair Sunday Breakfast for one month. Additional volunteers prepare food, set up the room, serve breakfast, welcome guests, sell raffle tickets, or clean up afterward.
Attend an upcoming breakfast or chat with the Steering Committee's Sunday Breakfast Liaison.
Your story may bring experience, strength, and hope to someone who needs it. We periodically need volunteer speakers for Sunday Breakfast, speaker meetings, workshops, treatment centers & IOP meetings, special events, and retreats.
Check out the White Board in person or "What's Happening" online for opportunities.
Our building makes meetings, fellowship, and service possible—and maintaining it takes many hands. Opportunities to help include: building maintenance and small repairs, cleaning and housekeeping, grounds care, seasonal or holiday decorating and cleanup, and more.
Contact a member of the Steering Committee for opportunities.
Fellowship activities create connections beyond the meeting room, while fundraising helps MFC maintain the facility and meet other financial needs. Help needed: plan fellowship events; promote events to boost attendance; secure food, supplies, or prizes; propose new fellowship or fundraising ideas.
Contact a member of the Steering Committee for opportunities.
Our committees turn member ideas into action and help manage the fellowship's day-to-day needs. Standing service areas include all Steering Committee positions, plus Decorations, Fellowship Events, Fundraising, Improvement Projects, Annual Picnic, and more.
Contact a member of the Steering Committee to get into touch with a Service Committee.
You do not need a title, special expertise, or unlimited time to make a difference. Sometimes service means leadership. Sometimes it means making coffee, putting away chairs, welcoming someone new, or noticing what needs to be done.
However you contribute, thank you for helping Mokena Fellowship Center remain a place where Recovery, Unity, and Service can flourish.
