How Steering Committee Works

The Steering Committee manages the day-to-day operations of the Fellowship and can approve expenditures of up to $500.

The committee meets on the second Sunday of every month (except in May, when it meets on the third Sunday) and is made up of:  

Three (3) Elected Officers*:

• Chairperson (5 yr sobriety)
• Vice-Chairperson (5 yr sobriety)
• Secretary (3 yr sobriety)

Ten (10) Standing Committee Coordinators*:

(Requirement: 1 year sobriety)

Five (5) Sub-Committee Coordinators**:

(Requirement: 1 year sobriety)

  **Voting rights limited to issues relating to their committee

Elected Officers are voted in by the membership on the second Sunday of March. All other roles are voted in by the Steering Committee.

1. AL-ANON Liaison gives voice to our ever-growing AL-ANON community
2. Building Maintenance maintains or organizes the maintenance of all our appliances, keeping us in compliance with all safety standards, and performs any small repairs as needed
3. Education Coordinator develops events designed to increase our understanding of the AA program
4. Housekeeping Coordinator cleans our building until it shines
5. Keys Coordinator manages all our keys and initiates our new chairperson on our procedures.
6. Literature Coordinator manages the coins and literature
7. Newsletter Coordinator prepares and distributes monthly content to the fellowship's membership distribution list.
8. Sunday Breakfast Coordinator coordinates the schedule of chairs for each month, and these chairs, in turn, provide speakers and chairs for each meeting. The Coordinator also collects door monies, runs the raffles, collects the 7th Tradition, and coordinates the food. 
9. Supplies Coordinator purchases coffee, filters, toilet paper, paper towels, and cleaning supplies.
10. Website Coordinator maintains the website, admin email address, and online chat features.

This takes a lot of work, and many hands make light work. All of these members donate their time to our Fellowship because they know service work keeps them sober, but they can’t do it alone.
