The Steering Committee manages the day to day operations of the Fellowship, and can approve expenditures under $500. The committee is made up of:
3 elected Officers: Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson (5 yr sobriety), and Secretary (3 yr sobriety), *full voting rights
9 Standing Committee Coordinators: Building Maintenance, Education, Keys, Housekeeping, Al-Anon Liaison, Literature, Sunday Breakfast, Supplies, Website (1 yr sobriety) *full voting rights
4 Sub-Committee Coordinators: Fundraising, Picnic, Fellowship Events, Improvement Committees (1 yr sobriety) *can only vote when issue relates to their committee
All of these positions are a minimum 1 year of service. The Elected Officers are voted in by the membership on the second weekend of March. All other members are voted in by the Steering Committee.
Essentially, the Committee performs the functions of a regular AA group’s business meeting, but for the entire Fellowship. The Supplies Chair purchases coffee, filters, tp, paper towels and cleaning supplies. Our Literature Chair manages the coins and literature, Education develops events designed to increase our understanding of the AA program, Keys manages all our keys and initiates our new chairperson on our procedures. Our Building Maintenance maintains or organizes the maintenance of all our appliances, keeping us in compliance with all safety standards, and performs any small repairs as needed. Housekeeping cleans our building until it shines, while our Al-Anon liaison gives voice to our ever growing Al-Anon community. Our Sunday Breakfast Chair coordinates the schedule of chairs for each month, and these chairs in turn provide speakers for each meeting. The Sunday Breakfast Chair also collects door monies, runs the raffles, collects the 7th Tradition and coordinates the food.
This takes a lot of work, and many hands make light work. All of these members donate their time to our Fellowship because they know service work keeps them sober, but they can’t NOit alone. Please consider being a part of our Steering Committee and being of service to our Fellowship.
