You don't have to do this alone. No matter what brought you here, we're glad you're here. Keep coming back.
Whether this is your first meeting or you're returning after time away, the Mokena Fellowship Center is a place where you belong. There are no requirements to attend — no dues, no fees, no sign-ups. Just show up.
| The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Let the meeting Chair know it's your first meeting, if that feels comfortable. If you prefer to remain silent, that's okay, too. You can simply listen. Many people attend several meetings before they ever speak.
Some meetings are discussion-based, some are speaker meetings, and some focus on reading from AA literature like the Big Book or the 12 & 12. All are welcoming to newcomers.
Before and after meetings, you'll find coffee, conversation, and people who understand what you're going through. The fellowship outside the room is just as important as what happens inside.
What you hear and see in the room stays in the room.
Anonymity is a cornerstone of AA — your privacy is respected absolutely.
No. You are welcome to simply listen. Many newcomers attend several meetings before they share anything. When you're ready, you can introduce yourself.
No. There are no dues or fees for AA membership. At meetings, a basket is passed — contributions are voluntary.
You are welcome to attend regardless of where you are in your journey. We ask only that you do not disrupt the meeting. If you need immediate help, please call Chicago AA at 312-346-1475 or visit your local emergency room.
Just bring yourself. Nothing else is required. Some bring a notebook. Coffee and reading materials are always available.
Open meetings welcome anyone — alcoholics and nonalcoholics — who are interested in recovery from alcoholism. Nonalcoholics are welcome to observe this recovery process. Closed meetings are for those who have a desire to stop drinking.
